The epic feeling of defending Jerusalem or taking Damascus from the enemies while in your lords army is beyond anything I've ever experienced in Warband.

As I've said hundreds of times, Pendor like most mods lack these features, idk how they've managed to make it work so well, but it does. In 1257ad the submod also works well only because of their in-depth formations AI, which actually makes things really work (AI vs AI is close to perfection, tho it doesn't help that there are no position markers for yourself, so you have to guess where do you fit to not break formation). In fact it's the nearly the only real feeling of "Mount&Blade" I've ever seeing (I mean, literally, only considering the title of the game itself), for you only have to play your mount and blade, nothing else. It would also require extensive bug-fixing, considering how badly implemented it was in the first place.

So to allow the player to continue beyond re-uniting Pendor, allowing for being either an Conqueror or simply to defend against invaders (but to make that work well the mod would need scripted diplomacy so to impede any realm outside of pendor from declaring war before the player has united it).įreelancer is only worth it if buffed, if not it isn't much of an addition. Unfortunately that would work best if Pendor had all the lands mentioned in the lore available in the map, like Barclay and Mettenheim. But going much beyond uniting specific Areas of the map is quite the challenge, and would probably take months if not years playing the same save in that mod.ĭifferent play-style, but if done correctly totaly plausible for Pendor. Generally I would RP as some bastard from an long-dead lord / king and try to regain my realm, or, rise as an commoner Status to turn an specific Realm into an Utopia. So in terms, the 1257ad's Freelancer is quite neat, possibly the best way to play it before striking on your own, specially because conquering the whole map (which is the whole Europe, part of Middle East, and Africa) is nearly impossible. If you do that as an Noble from another faction (Land retainer I mean, having any fief) your fief gets frozen, whenever you come back from crusading you regain your fief. It's also a way to redeem your Honor if you are way too disonarable. It's a killer for extreme immersion in that Mod. If you join up with Knighthood Orders (like Templars/Teutons/Hospitaller) you lose all your things, swear their oath of celibacy and become one among them (same if you join their faction as an Lord), during your Crusader period you are under oath and everything you do is sort of parallel, you also lose all your previous possessions for joining them, but keep most spoils when you retire from crusading. If you do that with higher renown, you are able to join as an Squire, and achieve knighthood. They've added variations for recruitment, so if you join up with low renown, you join as an commoner.

You should check the effects of doing so in 1257ad.
